A little sweet;
A little tart;
A perfect combination just like you.
I was at a religious gathering in Victoria island, Lagos some four years ago, learning about my religion and as the lecture was coming to and end, it was time for what we all anticipated; ITEM 7.
Disclaimer: I don’t attend events for the food all the time.
I sighted the young lady getting close with a cooler of chilled drinks and freshly baked doughnts as I could already smell it and the little ill mannered ones in my stomach hover in excitement.
After handing me my doughnut, I got this fancy looking small bottle containing what is meant to be a juice but really has a soft look.
However, the single thing that posed as worry to me as she handed me the bottle was how this small drink would “satisfy” me. I thought to myself, maybe you should collect two but then again, I’m not greedy.
We were eventually given two bottles each which made me low-key happy as I gulped the sweet sour juice. It was so chilled, it gave my thirst a run.
As someone who loved lime& lemon , it felt like I was taking water diluted like with a little bit of sugar. Perhaps the sugar wasn’t enough as they were making it. I thought.
What fascinated me more however was the little fancy bottle. I legit kept the second drink in my bag just so I could show it off when I got home. I have a knack for cute things and I always make sure I have pictures of them documented in my gallery for future purposes.
I had since been seeing the juice seldomly online but I didn’t pay much attention as I never saw in in Lagos traffic which is the headquarters of all drinks and neither did I see it at events.
So, you might want to imagine the excitement when Wilson’s decided to send me 3 packs of their juice just because I got tagged under their picfture as a blogger.
The way I screamed about the house, I could have been mistaken for someone that won a lottery but no, I was finally getting to work with a brand I love without a hitch. I was so happy.
I set up my camera to film on the day I got a call from a delivery company. I wanted to be camera ready to document the realness of the moment but I ended up sleeping off before my package arrived.
I later woke up to a text that said my package would be delivered the next day. Sunset, sunrise and I became the rich owner of 3 packets of Wilson’s juice goodness.
TO MY REVIEW
The first thing that caught my eye was the new bottle pack of Wilson’s juice which I wasn’t so impressed it. Although, I had been seeing images of it online but I low-key wished I would get the fancy looking bottle I had once fell in love with.
In my opinion, the bottle was too big for me. Well, in comparison to the old one. The new bottle made it look like every other drink. However, it is more economical which is highly important.
• On the package branding.
I found the drink itself blending so much with the label which left little to no opportunity of getting a well contrasted picture. I’m particularly concerned about this because it was a struggle taking pictures that had the label standing out.
• The good side to the label is what I found really inspiring. Just like the quote I started this article with, there are various other cute and motivational inscriptions on the bottle which I found really thoughtful and interesting. I could also relate to this so much and it gave me some sort of personalized feeling towards it.
I however think there’s a little too much going on on the label. Some people might miss out on the inscriptions as it’s a little clogged together and it also takes someone that pays attention to notice them.
• My first taste of the lemonade after 4 years was sort of off. It tasted more sour than the first time, then I realised it had been kept in the sun for a while and I had to go refrigerate it.
For health purpose, keep lemonade away from direct sunlight.
• To taste
Refrigerating definitely made a whole lot of difference. I like the sweet and sour taste and as i had my first gulp, it reminded me of my first Wilson’s moment.
Believe me when I say this lemonade is amayyyyzaaayn. This is no ad; it’s an honest review.
I also love how the drink is naturally sweetened. It’s a healthier option compared to a whole lot of what we have outside posing as “soft drinks”.
The lemonade also has a really soft tangy taste on the palette which obviously is also one of my favorite.
• To components
Wilson’s lemonade is made from juicy, zappy lemons sweetened with natural sugar cane water and blended with purified water..
Maybe it’s me but I think even the components of this drink is healthy and thoughtful.
The pink lemonade made from hibiscus popularly knows as zobo is my least favorite but this is an alternative for those who like zobo drink. Considering that I like my drinks tangy, the lime and lemon is more appealing to me.
1. Mixing both flavours of lemonade together gives a better taste. It tasted like a chapman when I tried it. Feel like a mixer by adding a straw and a slice of cucumber.
2. Make sure to keep drink away from direct sunlight.
3. Lemonade taste 50 times better when it’s cold. Preferably use ice cubes.
Yeah! That’s all I’ve got for now.
DID YOU KNOW?
• Luck on us as the lemonade comes in different bottle sizes; the 2 litres, 500ml, 300ml and 150ml.
This post is not an ad but an honest review. In simpler terms, I was not paid for this. I just thought sharing my opinions could help you make better decisions as to why you take what inside your body.
