Healthy eating might be a big deal but never have I met a human who doesn’t eat; so, you can always tweak it. The human body cannot even function without proper food and this is general knowledge. Unbelievably, I used to be one of those people who ate once a day or even forget to eat. Yes, I love food but eating used to be a chore for me. I’d much rather take a picture or admire a well presented meal. *weird*
Being well aware about the benefits of not only eating but eating clean, I was super grateful that pregnancy was able to help me eat more and consciously at that, infact, I now worry that I eat too much.
So, just in case you catch me staring into the space, I’m not thinking of anything deep or intellectual, it’s food.
For someone who weighs less than 50 and is really visibly slim, I’ve never had to worry about eating junks because adding any form of weight have proven to be an extreme sport. No matter how huge and unclean I eat, I just remain thesame.
And this is probably the reason I’d rather indulge my junk cravings than go the extra mile of prepping healthy beneficial meals.
Note:Do not think being skinny equates being healthy. Very wrong! I’d advise that you try eat as clean as possible if you’re skinny too because the food you take in does a whole lot than quench your hunger. It affects your mood, skin etc.
How I got to eat clean!
Thankful to my mother who is a lover of vegetables and takes it upon herself to always make me all kinds of veg infused meals when she comes over. I don’t even like cabbage or carrots in my food but I eat them anyways. I also think grean peas tastes like poverty.
On my own part, I try to cut down on my sweet tooth which hasn’t been going exactly smooth but I’ve been able to convince myself sometimes that I don’t need them and abstain. That should count for something right?
These two are a step in the right direction and I only hope you’d give it a chance. Btw, all that carbohydrate is a set up. Steer clear. * I still eat rice though. Sobs*
I started making fibre rich foods for myself. Potatoes, oats, yam and the likes have been my favourite and now tops my list.
My decision to however eat ealthy this year was made easy by sofreshng. A Nigerian healthy meal brand who out of love sent me food for 3 lovely days. Thank you sofresh, I still dream about that sweet n spicy salad and lemon zinger. *dayyyyyuuummmm*

Of course I was beyond excited when I got an email from sofresh offering to send me food. I mean, who doesn’t like good food especially when you don’t have to pay for it? Not me!
I had not been doing so well with my healthy eating plan and almost even given up when these guys showed up. It was really a silver lining for me and I grabbed it with both hands.
So, if you’ve opted for the clean eating lifestyle and you’re in Nigeria, sofresh is definitely out to make it a ton easier. Although, they’re not all over the country yet but if you happen to be in one of the lucky states, you should pay them a visit and have a meal your body would thank you for.

My 3day Meal Plan & Challenge!
Sofresh made the pact to draft me a three day meal plan which I tremendously enjoyed and didn’t even want to end.
Tbh, I had initially thought a 3days straight clean eating wasn’t a big deal as long as I was getting some food in my system for me and the little one but the first day was such a challenge for me.
I actually almost lost it towards the evening because I was so hungry for two ofcourse and barely had any of my regular sugar junks. My cravings surfaced and I couldn’t stop thinking about gobbling down a cup of icecream in my pizza filled mouth till I took a nap and felt a lot better.
That day, I felt what it meant to be denied food even though it was self discipline that held me together.
Day 1; ABC smoothie & Chicken Fiesta wrap.
Not being a great fan of smoothies that I didn’t make myself, I only had a taste of the ABC smoothie and couldn’t even bother to figure out the content of the smoothie. I’ll say it tasted okay as I’m not a good judge when it comes to smoothies. It also wasn’t cold when I had it and power was out so I just left it in my kitchen. Rating this 5/10.
If you’ve had the smoothie and loved it, I’ll say congratulations. I only speak for myself.
Chicken Fiesta Wrap:
Bomb is the exact word that comes to mind when I think of the chicken fiesta wrap. I absolutely loved it as it was a burst of flavours from the first bite. I really didn’t expect it to taste as good as it did; clearly surpassed my expectations.
I finished it in a sitting and gobbled down water even though deep down, I didn’t want the taste leaving my taste bud.
Rating the fiesta wrap 8/10 because 2 for bigger and better 🙄. For my large appetite at that time, I really needed it to be bigger because eating it felt like throwing a pin in a well. I was hungry right after and I had to force myself to nap. This wrap would be perfect for a non-heavy eater.

Day 2; Coconut parfait & Spicy Chicken Salad!
Spicy Chicken Salad:
Hands down the most colourful plate of salad I’ve had. This one had me super filled in no time and even managed to send me into photoshoot mode. I was really excited about how beautiful the entire plate was. I love a good looking meal that tastes bomb. Sue me!
Rating this salad an 8/10. -2 because I didn’t like the lettuce in it. I’ve never liked lettuce and it just tasted bitter. Everything else on the plate was a perfect hit. I’m particularly in love with this salad because it comes in a huge portion.
This you could share with a friend or have the second helping much later after the first but of course, store in a fridge. Shared mine with a friend though.
Loved the amount of chili in the chicken, it didn’t sting and the fusion of taste was a 100. Love, loved it. Although I was far gone into eating before I remembered my sauce, that good. Never miss the sauce, it tasted even better and got ride of the bitter lettuce taste. If you’re like me, you’ll love this.
Okayyyyy, this parfait had me hooked from the first scoop. I could barely pull myself together to get a picture for the gram. Lorrrrd! I had it cold and fresh and it was the best thing.
Still on the search for the secret fruit that was in it. I love parfaits and I make them myself but definitely not compared to this.. well, till I unlock the secrer fruit. Rating the parfait a 10/10.

Day 3; Chicken & Avocado Sandwich & Lemon Zinger!
As a lover and ambassador of all things lemon, I’d like a standing ovation for the lemonn zinger please. This drink had ginger in it and I could tell even before I had a sip. It sent a tingling feeling that I absolutely loved down my throat.
Had my drink with ice and I sipped as slowly as I could trying not to finish it on time. Rating it a 10/10. It was perfect.
Chicken & Avocado Sandwich:
My favourite bit about the sandwich was the texture of the chicken and avocado. They just felt right together. What I found quite surprising was how filling it was. I looked really small but nope, I wasn’t hungry till dinner time and past.
The perfect combo.
Clean eating isn’t as boring as I used to think. It was a great experience and at the end of the third day, I felt I could go through all week. If only it wasn’t so stressful and expensive, it’d be easier. But thanks to sofresh, you can’t go broke eating healthy.
All through the 3 days of my healthy eating challenge, my meal came in early. Even way before meal time.
Had a couple of friends who tried sofresh on my account and it’s been all positive feedbacks. And to those who have been on the sofresh team way before I joined, y’all really know good stuff. Thanks.
