For context, I’m a scarf whore. I know you could easily do a quick maths and say “ oh you’re a Muslim woman who covers her hair, so that is expected” relax! There’s more.
As a Muslim woman of course I do love my hijab and I sometimes try to wear my scarf in different ways depending on my mood or the occasion.
However, I have a lot of love for square scarves which are not usually the ones wrapped around my head and neck but a very versatile piece I could style as a headscarf, with a dress, bags or even as a shoelace.

If you’re curious as to the amazing things you can do with your scarf and where to get them, keep on reading.
SCARF BRAND: AREWA LABEL
One word, sophisticated silk scarves. AREWA label is a black owned scarf brand in the Uk and they sell one of the most amazing scarves I own.
What I love:
The quality of their scarves are top tier. Imagine soft, silky and sophisticated. I also gradually fell in love with their unique scarf designs and it’s no wonder why they’re always sold out. Thankfully, they restock super early too.
How to style:

Headscarf:
I love to style my square silk scarf as my hijab itself or an accessory over my hijab to give an edgy vibe. It’s not an everyday look but something I’d wear for some effort.

Top/shirt accessory:
When you think of the bold and daring casual look, think about styling your scarf over a basic white shirt, a jumpsuit, top or whatever makes you comfortable. This look completely screams “brave”

As a belt:
Sometimes you might get tired of using your regular leather or chain belt or even waist purse and want to opt for something more simple yet edgy and a square scarf is just right for that. You can easily get this look by folding your scarf to the size of a belt, wrap around your waist and finish off with a beautiful knot or bow design.
As a bag:
Yes! Your square scarf can double as a bag ( all different kinds) especially as a summer bag with your lipgloss, phone and maybe a few fruits if you’re not doing too much.

As a shoelace:
I specifically like to do this with my white sneakers so I could achieve a color pop or generally a more stylish outcome. This is perfect for when you get tired of your regular shoe laces and just want to spice things up.
All you need to do is roll your scarf into a thin rope-like piece and carefully stick it into your shoe holes and you’re good to go.
Here are some of the fun ways I love to style my square scarves and I hope you find it helpful.
