I would say my style has really evolved in the past few months and it’s really refreshing to see me fall in love with fashion items and even trends that I thought I would never wear.

Some of these would make my mother really happy because they’re more of her style and I used to call them old school. Now that I’m getting older, I can tell it’s a mixture of understanding what luxury is and being able to recognize well made products.
A couple of months ago I didn’t really bother about luxury brands and it wasn’t just because I couldn’t afford them but because I’ve lived (and still do) a very modest life.
Learning about fashion more in-depth now, I would say I prefer to have a mix of long lasting luxurious pieces matched with my everyday fashion items and one of the discoveries I’ve made in this period is that I actually love trends that have made it back from the past.
Keep reading to find out fashion trends that I’m loving and also think is here to stay.

GRANDAD / DAD SANDALS
I’ve hated this style of sandals since I was a child because to me it didn’t look classy at all and also felt bulky.
I also used to associate the sandals with tackiness but all that has changed since these designs have evolved and fashion influencers are doing a great job showing how comfortable and versatile this piece is. So, yes I have been influenced and I’m happy about that.

TIE-DYE
Back in Nigeria this was a thing and I would say I didn’t appreciate it much then as I do now. Although I did love the adire fabric and I considered making cute traditional outfits in them but not in the way I feel about them now. I see this trend staying for even longer like in the 90’s.

BAGGY CLOTHES
Oversized fashion for me was a way of hiding my insecurities. My tiny legs, small waist and knee cap led to wearing baggy cloths. I was tired of being asked if I was sick and that was how it started. Now, I believe baggy clothes are here to stay for so many reasons like comfort, edgy and creating daring looks.

OVAL SUNGLASSES
For someone who got about 5 pairs at once, I definitely do have a thing for oval sunglasses and the edge they give any look if worn right.

BUCKET HATS
This is one of the very new trends I’m loving as I only started noticing it recently. I still haven’t gotten the perfect bucket hat for myself but the moment I find one that fits, I’m going to live in it. The bucket hat trend is such a cool vibe.

STRAPY HEELS
I definitely caught the strapy heel bug and might gradually be transitioning from a trainer babe to a sandals lover. My mother always preferred us in shoes because sandals were open and gets the feet dirty so I grew up loving shoes and anything covering up my entire feet but the strappy heels bug has that sorted.

TINY BAGS
Did I really think tiny bags which could only fit in air would steal my heart? My answer would have been a big fat no two years ago but this is a personal style decision I’ve made and happy to see trending.

GINGHAM
Gingham gave me highschool vibes because my hostel uniform used to be a blue gingham that also signifies lack of freedom of course because we had to abide by school rules. It’s however beautiful to see gingham fashion be a thing. This trend I’m yet to try but absolutely adore.

SLIP DRESS
The luxury, the simplicity and versatility of a slip dress is enough for anyone to get on board with this trend. This I would definitely wear for long.

SUITS AND BLAZERS
Suits and blazers have now gone beyond being wardrobe staples to trending pieces. The attitude and vibe of styling them from corporate to chic and edgy has made them one of the most trendy fashion pieces. I already own a good number but you can never have too much blazers.

I like the Dad sandals
Ikr.. I need them in every neutral color if I’m being honest.
Suits and blazers are things I’d like to try out.
I promise you’ll love it.
I don’t like the dad sandals. Don’t think I ever will. Maybe if I see one with a feminine touch that appeals to me. Also love slip dresses! Always and forever. My love for baggy clothes is always shifting. Sometimes they make me look too big. I think they look better on slimmer girls lol. I like dresses with room but I’m always wary of going too big. Not to be mistaken with float dresses, which I’d love forever.
Omg, I think I’ll have to style a dad sandals just because of you. I don’t know why I think you’d like it after I style it but I’m positive.I totally understand your view in baggy clothes because it can be really tricky. Of course you can rock it but sometimes it doesn’t slap like it does on slimmer bodies but it doesn’t have to. I’ve actually seen plus sized women style slip dresses and I genuinely think it fits them better. As a matter of fact, I’ll send you inspo. Float dresses however are amazing, I’m about to go crazy on them.
Okay this slip dress is calling my name! Your consistency is admirable, well done.
I won’t even lie, I’m obsessed with them. You’ll look stunning in a slip dress. Thanks for always supporting babe.
You have finally seen the light on slip dresses. Whoop, Whoop.
I still think Grandad slippers are meh, but they look good on other people. And wow, I got featured (twice), *insert happy dance*
I’ve always been a fan. Have you forgotten I got three different colors but they were mini dresses 😂😂😂 I’m going to style the dad sandals just so you can get with the program boo. Oh yes😂
Oh yeahhh, I remember! 😂😂😂
About the Grandad slippers, now you’ve created an image in my head.
